TEXAS WINDS MUSICAL OUTREACH INC

Texas Winds Musical Outreach engages, comforts and celebrates the spirits of isolated seniors, hospital patients, veterans and children in North Texas through live, professional musical performances.

In 1985 Catherine Barr and members of her woodwind quintet discovered a new audience in a Dallas nursing home. The musicians’ desire to perform matched the residents’ need for human interaction. Music made a difference in the lives of players and listeners alike, nurturing their spirits and awakening the potential for sharing love and compassion in a unique setting. Texas Winds performed 11 concerts in its first year of incorporation.

Since that time, Texas Winds has expanded its outreach to nursing homes, as well as hospitals, hospice and Head Start Centers in the North Texas area.
