The SteelForge Arts Institute trains veterans and young people for work in film, television, and digital content, then puts them to work. Programs are organized by track: screenwriting, producing, directing, cinematography, editing and post-production, sound, and set operations (grip, electric, art department). Each track is taught by working professionals on real productions, and every program is free to participants.
The Institute runs two divisions. The Veterans Program takes service members and veterans who already have the discipline and technical aptitude the industry runs on and gives them a trade, a credit, and a paycheck. The Youth Program takes students who want into an industry that has never had a door where they live, and opens one.
Graduates are hired onto SteelHorn Foundation productions and placed with partner studios and crews across the Southeast. The Institute is the training arm of SteelForge Studios, a sustainable production campus SteelHorn Foundation, Inc. is building in a reclaimed industrial building: recycled steel, solar power, closed-loop water, and working soundstages built to put people to work.
Gifts fund camera, sound, and lighting kits, editing stations, instructor pay, and paid apprenticeships on set.
