The Yellow Ribbon Fund listens to what injured service members and their families say they need and fills those gaps in services where we can. Support begins during recovery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and continues after they return home, thanks to YRF’s nationwide network of volunteers. Since YRF’s beginning in 2005, more than 84 cents of every dollar spent has gone to services and programs.
Through our Crossroads Program, we provide financial and emotional relief in the form of free rental cars, taxi rides, hotel stays, and fully-furnished apartments for family members visiting injured loved ones in the hospital and veterans temporarily in the Bethesda area for extended medical treatment or rehabilitation.
Our Keystone Program pays special attention to the needs of military caregivers. Since caregivers are often the linchpins of their families, our program, with 11 chapters across the country, including a national chapter, provides them sanctuary, skills, and stability through monthly respite activities and social events, and educational and life skills training. We also provide retreats to foster bonding, networking, and experience sharing.
Our donors also help us provide additional activities intended to relieve the stress of medical treatments and lengthy rehabilitations with on-base holiday parties and other activities, outings to local restaurants and recreational venues, and free tickets to cultural and sporting events.
We partner with MyVetAdvisor, Luke's Angels, Fisher House, Cohen Veterans Network and other nonprofits to help our veterans and their families cope with their new reality and adapt to civilian life.
See Charity Navigator or Guidestar/Candid for an analysis of how well we use the funds provided by our generous donors.
