Redeem Detroit is an award winning non profit organization. We revitalize neighborhoods in the city of Detroit by rehabilitating vacant properties and using them to train At-risk youth, homeless veterans, and returning citizens in vocational and job readiness skills, and with these skills we provide job placement as well as connect them to the resources they need. Over the last ten years we have renovated four abandoned buildings to house our programs, which have included training in auto repair, carpentry and electrical installation. We have provided emergency shelter for homeless veterans, and wrap around initiatives for pregnant and parenting students who graduate from Pathways Academy. One of our buildings was also used as a Senior Center, where we helped 40 senior citizens per day to socialize, receive counseling services and assistance with many of their personal needs. We have partnered with many organizations to impact lives and we are humbled to have won many community awards including the Channel 7 20/20 Award.
Our newest Program, Project NOAH, aims to assist our most At-Risk Youth - The Teen Mom. Not only is she at-risk but her child is at-risk as well; therefore, the objective is to help the teen moms complete high school and enroll into either a college or a skilled trades program. We provide support for the teens by removing the major barriers to their success which are: transportation, daycare, and housing. We provide transportation to school and work while providing a high quality daycare experience for their child as well as housing in our dormitory styled facility that's equipped with all the wraparound services they need under one roof. Through this program, we aim to increase post-secondary graduation rates, create successful career pathways and placement, and ultimately create new home owners in the city of Detroit. The overall vision is to break the cycle of poverty by impacting two generations at the same time- the teen mom and the child. When the participants are done with our program, they will be high school graduates who are enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution with a career path to follow as well as employment. Furthermore, their children will achieve and or exceed standard psychological and developmental benchmarks for their age group. After two years in our program, our participants will also have the tools necessary to become educated homeowners with their children set up to follow in their footsteps.
