SARATOGA THERAPEUTIC EQUESTRIAN PROGRAM INC

Established in 1986, the Saratoga Therapeutic Equestrian Program (STEP) is a charitable, not-for-profit 501 (C) (3) organization registered in NY state, A registered PATH and AHA facility, whose core staff of volunteer medical professionals and equestrians with community volunteers provides over 600 sessions per year at its home stable in Glenville New York for special needs people ages 2 to 100 yrs old with physical, psychosocial and emotional disabilities using the horse and its movement in MEDICAL treatment strategies PT, OT and speech Language (HIPPOTHERAPY), teaching equine skill acquisition (STEP -up Therapeutic riding/driving) and emotional support using the Equine experience ( STEP FROM the GROUND -UP) in addition to inclusive recreational and community programs ( Equine experiential learning and riding, K's Camp 4 Kids) teaching Humane Education in the outdoor classroom and Reading readiness program (Pony tales and Read to me Mini Me).STEP offers day programs an avenue for learning and recreation in addition to retreats for business and organizations and local schools programs for special education.
STEP provides a home for equines in their 3rd age with some rescued from a bad ending to having a purposeful life to live with people who love and care for them.
Altogether the people and the horses form the unique TEAM STEP in changing the lives of all.
