Operation Lifeline Inc. (OLI) is expanding our operations to open our SkillBridge training program for separating military members and we are seeking assistance in funding the program which will cost a total of approximately $165,000.
For those not familiar with the program, SkillBridge is a DoD initiative which provides an opportunity for service members to gain civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, and internships during the last 180 days of military service, prior to release from Active Duty. SkillBridge connects service members with industry partners and real-world job experiences that are designed to aid the service member in finding meaningful and gainful employment after discharge.
We're excited to report that OLI finally received its approval to serve as a DoD SkillBridge host after 10 months of coordination with Pentagon representatives. OLI also joined forces with Veterans Florida, the State’s designated SkillBridge program assistance organization, signing a mutually supportive Memorandum of Understanding.
OLI has been approved to bring a Construction SkillBridge program North Florida. Instruction for OLI’s construction training progressively evolves from lectures in the classroom to hands-on training on the shop floor to practical construction experience in the field where closely supervised students support the OLI mission by performing repairs for low- and moderate-income Veterans residing in underserved communities. Program graduates will have the skills needed for immediate employment in a high-demand, above-average compensation industry.
