We are a 100% donation-funded organization. We Help local Veterans suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) & Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS). Defenders of Freedom’s primary goals are to provide care, resources, and transitional support for our Troops and Veterans through the following actions:
*Fully-funded access to a comprehensive Traumatic Brain Injury treatment program
*Personalized options to address Post-Traumatic Stress
*Assistance with basic living necessities through short-term emergency financial support
*Address imminent physical and mental health issues
*Improve morale and keep Veterans engaged in a supportive community
Defenders of Freedom offers a solution to Veterans who struggle with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This signature wound of post 9/11 Veterans is grossly neglected. It has gone undiagnosed and untreated in many Veterans we have worked with. For many Veterans, the diagnosis is Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and the corresponding treatment is prescribed medications. The symptoms of PTS and TBI do mirror each other and those symptoms can be relieved through medication, but for those with TBI, this relief does nothing to treat the injury to the brain. Functional neurology, on the other hand, is an effective treatment for brain injury. We have partnered with Resiliency Brain Health to address both the physiological and chemical issues with their whole body approach.
We hold numerous fundraising events each year (including golf, poker and clay shooting tournaments) to help raise funds and bring awareness to the struggle that veterans with TBI and PTSD face each day. These events bring the civilian community together with veterans so they can interact and see first-hand the impact that their donations can have.
