EL CALDITO

El Caldito has operated a volunteer based community soup kitchen since 1984. We provide free, nutritious meals 365 days a year to individuals and families experiencing hunger in Las Cruces, New Mexico and the surrounding Dona Ana county. Through a volunteer-driven model, we create a welcoming, dignified space where anyone experiencing food insecurity is served without barriers. We serve between 300 and 500 meals a day including weekday breakfast, hot meals Sunday through Friday, and a take-away sack lunch on Saturdays.
El Caldito has operated on the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope campus since 1996. As the only provider of daily prepared meals on the campus, El Caldito plays a critical role in meeting the needs of campus residents. In addition to serving the homeless and near-homeless population; El Caldito also provides services to anyone who comes to our kitchen, no questions asked. Clients include individuals and families in the area who rely on government assistance or charitable organizations to help with their basic needs. By providing access to safe, reliable, and nutritious meals we help reduce food insecurity by supporting basic health and stability needs within the community.
