NORTHERN COLORADO VETERANS RESOURCE CENTER

At the heart of NCVRC is our Peer Support Navigation Program (PSNP). This program is built on trust. Veterans come to us facing challenges such as housing insecurity, healthcare gaps, unemployment, and barriers to education. Many arrive in crisis. Some are just beginning to look for a way forward. All are met with compassion, respect, and support.
Our Navigators, who are Veterans themselves, do more than provide referrals. They build relationships. Using trauma-informed care and a social determinants of health approach, they help clients uncover and address the root causes of the issues they face. Once barriers are identified, and referrals are made, our Navigators continue to assist the Veteran with case management and advocacy until their issue is resolved. A Veteran may come in needing emergency housing but leave with a plan for long-term stability and access to healthcare and education. This approach, addressing root causes of problems, greatly increases the individual's chance at stability and self-sufficiency.
The peer support model works because it is personal. For Veterans who feel disconnected from the VA system or unsure of where to turn, speaking with someone who truly understands can make all the difference. Time and again, our clients tell us they feel heard, understood, and valued. They return not because they are required to, but because they trust us to do the right thing.
