The mission of Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries (OVGI) is to provide rehabilitation services to persons of working age who are physically, mentally, psychologically, or socially disabled and vocationally limited for the purpose of maximizing their vocational independence. Founded in 1916, OVGI is one of the largest rehabilitation services providers in Ohio. OVGI is committed to enriching the Greater Cincinnati community through programs that empower its most vulnerable populations to lead full, fulfilling lives. In 2022, OVGI served 1,769 individuals, placed 759 in competitive community employment, and recycled more than 44,098,062 pounds of donated material. As of writing, OVGI employs 527 full-time and 162 part-time workers. OVGI’s programs service the following populations:
Individuals with Developmental Disabilities:
OVGI offers many services designed to enrich the lives of people with developmental disabilities. Committed to Ohio’s Employment First initiative, OVGI helps individuals achieve personal growth, community integration, and vocational independence. Services offered include career exploration, pre-vocational training, career planning, adult day programming, job placement, and worksite support.
Veterans:
Since 1993, OVGI has successfully operated programs that assist Veterans who are homeless or struggling with poverty. Current programs include the Veteran Employment Program, which uses employment-driven interventions to increase Veterans’ income and housing sustainability, and the Grant & Per Diem Bridge Housing program, which provides housing and wrap-around supportive services for Veterans as they transition out of homelessness and into permanent housing.
Individuals/Families Experiencing Homeless:
OVGI works with the local Continuum of Care (CoC) under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Rapid Re-housing project to provide short-term rental assistance and intensive case management services to homeless individuals and their families.
