Eat the Peadies is an Astoria, NY-based theatre group that creates theatre for the very young—and for those who are young at heart. We create work that is meaningful and fun for the community and engages local artists to tell stories of our past, present, and future.
We are Lok Sze ("Zonia") Tsang and Jeff Wildermuth, a married couple who studied musical theater writing at New York University. We created our first show for the very young, titled The Mushroomers, as part of the New Victory Theater's LabWorks residency, and did practically everything ourselves, from devising the theater piece, writing the script, composing the music, assembling the costumes, sewing and stuffing the props, as well as performing as the two mushrooms and directing ourselves. We presented 3 workshops (5 total performances) in New York this year and plan to continue performing The Mushroomers in 2026, and have started devising our next piece, tentatively titled The Planter and the Plant, and set a tentative deadline of March 2026 for our first workshop presentation. As before, we plan to write, compose, perform, and do nearly everything for this piece and our future projects.
