FIRST Robotics Team 3255, the SuperNURDs allow students to develop a variety of expertise through hands-on experiences which relate to the real world, and each member takes away their own uniquely marketable skills in science, engineering, and business.
The FIRST Robotics team at San Pasqual High School makes a serious IMPACT, not only on its member but also on its community! The SuperNURDs allow students to develop a variety of expertise through hands-on experiences which relate to the real world, and each member takes away their own uniquely marketable skills in science, engineering, and business. Success for Team 3255 is evident in the confidence that students build in their skills and the skills of their teammates during the course of the year. Our success also reflects in the dedication of our students on a project that inspires creativity and furthers their learning yet offers no grade or classroom credit. These students willingly sacrifice their free time, working late into the night, purely for the experience and environment that only our team can offer them. Success for our program also means a welcoming and nurturing environment where students build lifelong friendships that reflect the diversity of our community and network with adults working in science, engineering, among other industries. In a school majorly focused on athletic and music programs, this program offers an activity in which the only prerequisite is interest. As our students begin setting their own goals, planning for them, and then achieving them, we know that we have given them their own blueprint for success in this world.
The success goes beyond high school for the members of Team 3255. A vast majority of our students pursue a higher education; the list of colleges and universities they have matriculated to include: Standford, Harvey Mudd, UC Berkeley, SDSU, UCSD, as well as Embery Riddle. About half of these students are attending with scholarships!
The list of achievements FRC Team 3255, The SuperNURDs is impressive, but if you take into the account that San Pasqual is a Title 1 school with population of over 50% on free/reduced lunch and 49% Hispanic/Latino students, the achievements are staggering, especially since this program is offered to all students free of charge.
The need for HP funding is essential for FRC Team 3255. As a Title 1 school, FIRST Robotics program is offered free of charge to students to make it equitable to all students at San Pasqual. Therefore, we have to rely on generous corporate donations, such as HP, to keep this vital program going.
