The Community Youth Garden is a vibrant, hands-on initiative designed to engage young people in sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and entrepreneurship. This project will transform an open space into a thriving garden where youth can cultivate fresh produce, learn valuable life skills, and build a sense of ownership and pride in their community.
The garden will feature a mix of raised beds and larger, traditional in-ground beds to allow for a wider variety of crops and growing experiences. Youth participants will be actively involved in every stage of the gardening process—from planting and maintaining crops to harvesting and selling excess produce at the local farmers market. This entrepreneurial opportunity will help teach business skills, financial literacy, and the value of hard work.
Budget Breakdown:
Water Access and Irrigation: $6,000
Plants and Seeds: $4,000
Excavation Work: $1,500
Stone for Pathways and Borders: $1,250
Garden Tools and Supplies: $500
Garden Shed (for future expansion, not a current priority): $5,500
This project not only promotes healthy living and food security but also cultivates leadership, teamwork, and real-world skills in the next generation. With community support, the Youth Garden will grow more than just food—it will grow confident, capable young leaders.
