Mountain Valor is a veteran-led nonprofit organization committed to supporting veterans and their families across rural Virginia—places where access to benefits, healthcare, and supportive services can be extremely limited.
Our mission is to empower veterans and their families by connecting them with the tools, education, and community they need to thrive. From senior veterans facing end-of-life planning to caregivers navigating complex VA systems, we provide hands-on, trauma-informed support where it’s needed most.
We host weekly outreach events in rural communities from May through November, bringing resources directly to veterans—no long drives, no confusing red tape. Our programs include:
Educational briefings on both federal and Virginia-specific veteran benefits
Caregiver support tools, including trauma-aware guidance and referrals
Large-print resource packets designed for accessibility
One-on-one help navigating survivor benefits and VA paperwork
Connections to housing, mental health, and peer support services
Our signature annual event, Mountain Valor Fest, brings together hundreds of veterans, family members, and vetted community resources for a full day of connection, healing, and hope. It’s not just an event—it’s a reminder that rural doesn’t mean forgotten.
We also reach people through the Mountain Valor Podcast, where we answer real veteran questions and break down benefit information in plain English.
Whether it's through a packet, a conversation, a podcast episode, or a community event—we show up for the veterans who often go unseen. And we don’t stop at the veteran—we serve their spouses, caregivers, and families, because service is never a solo act.
At Mountain Valor, we believe no veteran should be left behind just because they live beyond the city limits. And with your support, we can keep showing up—week after week, town after town.
