MUZ

op INDEPENDENT ARTS & MEDIA

MUZ, a three-person art collective based in the San Francisco Bay Area, fosters connection and collaboration within the arts community. We partner with artists and arts organizations to develop diverse programming, encompassing curatorial projects, publications, and educational programming for all ages. Our core mission is to support and enrich the arts ecosystem.
Our curatorial and publishing projects emphasize mentorship and intergenerational exchange. We carefully select participating artists, pairing established mid-career artists with emerging artists, including recent graduates and current students. This model creates a supportive environment where experienced artists can mentor and uplift newer voices, fostering growth and opportunity within the arts community.
Our most current project, hub is a mobile exhibition series and educational classroom housed within a closed container cargo trailer, designed to democratize access to art and education. Its mission is to provide an alternative platform for artists and students, offering exhibitions and programming directly within communities. This aligns seamlessly with IAM’s mission to empower independent art and media projects that foster community engagement, cultural participation, and free expression.
Through two-day exhibitions in two Bay Area cities, hub brings art to unconventional spaces,
removing barriers to traditional gallery access. The project includes curated video screenings displayed on the trailer’s exterior, broadening its reach and creating a space for diverse cultural engagement. The flexibility of location also enables the creation of site-specific work, encouraging artists to connect with their surroundings in meaningful ways.
Central to hub is the pairing of artists who have not yet worked together which broadens the artists relationship to the local arts community and inspires new creative projects. This approach supports both artistic growth and civic participation by cultivating dialogue between artists and their audiences. By merging educational programming with community-centered exhibitions, hub builds a bridge between artistic practice and public engagement.
hub advances IAM’s mission by making art accessible, fostering collaboration, and creating
opportunities for underrepresented voices in the arts. Through its mobile format, it facilitates cultural exchange and promotes free expression, bringing art and education to communities in ways that are both innovative and deeply impactful.
