Key Change Music aids healing and recovery by promoting access to music and musical equipment for adults engaged in healing, recovery, and/or treatment.
Contemporary research shows that music therapy has a positive effect in enhancing contemplation, treatment readiness, motivation, and cravings in addiction treatment.
Access to musical instruments for adults engaged in recovery treatment may be limited as instruments can prove to be too expensive and difficult to retain when overwhelmed by the throes of addiction and duress. Key Change Music seeks to ameliorate this barrier by donating musical instruments and equipment to recovery and treatment centers (e.g., recovery residences, sober living environments, crisis residential programs, locked psychiatric facilities, group homes) and to individuals that graduate treatment programs (e.g. Treatment Court).
