Marin Woods Affordable Homeownership Project
op Habitat For Humanity of Island CountyHabitat for Humanity of Island County is constructing three new single-family homes in the Marin Woods Neighborhood of Oak Harbor, expanding access to safe, stable, and affordable homeownership for local families. This project responds to Island County’s growing housing affordability challenges by creating attainable ownership opportunities for households priced out of the private market.
Each home will be built in partnership with a qualified Habitat homebuyer family and supported by volunteers, donors, and community partners. Homes will be energy-efficient, durable, and designed to support long-term affordability, helping families build equity and stability while remaining rooted in the Oak Harbor community.
Future homeowners will complete Habitat’s homebuyer education program and contribute “sweat equity” hours, strengthening financial readiness and fostering a sense of ownership and community connection. Homes will be sold with affordable mortgages to ensure long-term housing stability.
The Marin Woods project reflects Habitat for Humanity of Island County’s commitment to local workforce housing, neighborhood vitality, and sustainable growth. By building three homes in an established residential neighborhood, this project supports community integration while creating lasting impact for families who live and work in Island County.
