In 2017, Governor Hogan created the Commission on the Future of the Pikesville Armory to consult with the community on the potential uses of the Armory property. In 2021, the Pikesville Armory Foundation (PAF) was created as a 501C3 Maryland nonprofit organization to carry out the collective vision agreed upon, and to lead, along with Baltimore County, the State of Maryland and numerous local partners, the development of the historic Pikesville Armory, built in 1903 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. This once-in-a-generation opportunity will transform a decommissioned military site into a 17-acre intergenerational community hub that will positively impact the entire Northwest corridor.
The reimagined Armory will make Pikesville a vibrant neighborhood, providing much-needed safe, accessible spaces for people of all ages, including athletic fields, arts and cultural venues, cafés, walking paths, ADA-friendly playgrounds, gardens, meeting spaces for veterans and residents, co-working and maker studio spaces, children and youth development activities, and more.
PAF is strengthening our local community by bringing hope and inspiration to a neighborhood in need; solving numerous wishes and providing both residents and visitors with opportunities to grow, gather, connect and thrive.
In January of 2024 the Pikesville Armory Foundation broke ground on this $100+ million community project. The first phase includes the transformation of the NCO Building (which will host PAF’s offices and gathering spaces for Veterans associations and the community), and pre-activation events (“Jazz at the Armory” - Free Summer Concert Series; and “Taste of Northwest”).
The Foundation is also consolidating strategic partnerships with the main tenants that will complement the Armory’s ecosystem, as we continue our fundraising efforts.
