Globally Endangered Caribbean Reef Sharks - Acoustic Tagging

op SAVING THE BLUE

In November 2022, we started deploying new acoustic receivers (shark listening stations) and acoustic tags to Caribbean reef sharks as part of a new and exciting project on this globally endangered species. We already have a variety of animals tagged with acoustic tags, from silky and dusky sharks to smalltooth sawfish; however, we are expanding our research to include the iconic Caribbean reef shark. We currently have an array of receivers around The Bahamas that record data as animals pass by (think of it like tagged cars passing a toll booth), which offers new movement data on reef sharks that no one has ever attempted in Andros before!

We are seeking funding for six Receivers ($1,900 each) and 35 acoustic tags ($350 each).

We hope that with your support, we will see our vision and dream become a reality. We really will make an important impact with your encouragement and support, and we thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
