AID FOR FRIENDS INC

Since 1984, Aid For Friends has provided emergency shelter and essential services to Southeast Idaho. The agency has extensive experience providing housing and vital services to the homeless population and low-income households. Aid For Friends serves an untargeted, diverse demographic population including single men, single women, households with adults only and households with children. Their current situation may not qualify them for other housing programs that provide shelter and assistance to specific populations.

The emergency shelter program is available to veterans, victims of domestic violence, persons recovering from substance abuse, those suffering from mental illness, physical or developmental disabilities, chronic health conditions and chronically homeless. The homeless emergency shelter has housed people of all ages from newborn infants to the very elderly (80+). Aid For Friends chose to serve the wide diversity of homeless population to ensure its role as the community’s safety net for those who have no other support systems. Aid For Friends has been the leader in Southeast Idaho in providing services to a population that may not find assistance anywhere else in the region.

In addition to providing emergency shelter lodging and services, Aid For Friends also manages supportive housing programs to assist homeless households to stabilize within the community. The agency currently manages 11 permanent supportive for long term housing and administers 2 rapid re-housing grants that provide short-to-medium term financial assistance. The programs provide affordable housing and temporary financial assistance for housing with the ultimate goal of permanent housing and stabilization.
