OPERATION STRONG MIND
PITTSBURGH, PennsylvaniaThe greatest challenge faced by members of the military community is isolation from the civilian communities in which they live and work. Operation Strong Mind is committed to helping members of the military community get connected and stay connected. We deliver meaningful interpersonal engagements and aid members of the military community in rediscovering a sense of purpose or mission in their civilian lives. We educate civilians about contemporary military service and culture so that they understand the importance of relationships to members of the military community, and we create sustainable, culturally competent partnerships with community groups to help local businesses, schools, places of worship, and other organizations to engage meaningfully with members of the military community.
We engage in a number of initiatives modeled after state of the art preventative behavioral health intervention successfully used on the modern battlefield using a sociological and cultural approach with an emphasis on the profound changes experienced by veterans and families as a result of military service. Our initiatives are holistic, natural, and interconnected with the goal of reducing the loneliness, anonymity, and isolation felt by our members of our military community. Our community and strength-based initiatives are also designed to reduce the operational stress experienced by our military community as a result of today's fluid and dynamic world environment.
