We are a small, veteran owned, foster based rescue doing big things! We are a 100% volunteer organization and 100% of our donations always go directly to the care of our dogs. We assist animal control and shelters in help with cruelty cases and the recovery of those dogs. All of our dogs in our rescue are treated just like our own family dogs until they find their very own families! We advocate for our bully breed type dogs and educate the community on these misunderstood dogs as well as advocate and educate on the importance of spay and neuter programs to help alleviate the problem of pet overpopulation and the crisis in our shelters. We work with behavior consultants and trainers that use positive reinforcement methods as we believe it is important for our dogs to trust us and want to work with us bc it is fun and full of enrichment. We also work with these trainers to help get our dogs certified for therapy programs. Our President has recently earned her certification in dog training and behavior through the Victoria Stillwell Academy. She has also earned her Fear Free Certification for training Our organization is a Member of the Pet Professional Guild and we are also members of a local collective of shelters, rescues, and humane societies known as the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies(VFHS). Our foster -to-adopt program allows families to take in one of our dogs and see how well they fit in to their lifestyle before committing to adopt. In an attempt to help keep families together we also have foster programs in place for when families fall on hard times and will set up family dogs in temporary homes until these families are "back on their feet" and ready to take their beloved family pet back. All of our dogs are fully vetted,spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to foster/adoption. Our dogs also receive "check out check ups" from our vet prior to being turned over to the foster or adopter to ensure they are all up to date and there are no issues that come as a surprise. Our President is currently learning American Sign Language to work on implementing a program to help deaf/autistic/non-verbal children and adults be able to communicate with dogs and for our dogs to be part of community outreach programs in our area.
