COMMEMORATIVE AIR FORCE

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) is the nation’s leading organization devoted to educating, inspiring, and honoring through flight and living history experiences. We own and operate more than 170 aircraft across the United States—the largest collection of vintage military aircraft in the world. With over 80 Units and 12,000 members across the United States and globally, we aim to be more than just a collection of airworthy warplanes from the past. The CAF's fleet of historic aircraft, known as the CAF Ghost Squadron, recreate, remind and reinforce the lessons learned from the defining moments in American military aviation history.

Highlights include:

-Making history hands-on, more than 170 aircraft are assigned to local CAF Units across the country in over 28 states. Many aircraft are available for rides, static exhibits and airshows – bringing history to life.

-The 47,000 sq. ft. HENRY B. TIPPIE NATIONAL AVIATION EDUCATION CENTER (NAEC), including a Gallery, theatre, interactive exhibit space, classrooms, a STEM innovation hangar, workshops and meeting space.

- CAF RISE ABOVE (including the CAF Red Tail Squadron and CAF RISE ABOVE WASP) is our three-fold educational outreach program that brings the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) to life in communities and classrooms everywhere. What the Tuskegee Airmen and WASP had in common – and what made them ultimately succeed – was the ability to recognize that all of the obstacles they faced could be overcome with hard work and dedication. The timeless lessons they teach us about perseverance and courage are just as applicable today as they were in the 1940s.
