In early 2024, Caldwell Art's Council's business location of 45 years was sold. In May 2024, we secured a new 12,500 square foot location at 126 Mulberry Street NW in downtown Lenoir, North Carolina that will better serve this community. Now, we look to the future in a larger ADA compliant facility that will offer an artisan craft retail store, the City of Lenoir Visitor Information Center, a dedicated multi-purpose art gallery, ample classrooms, a performance hall, event spaces, office rentals, and more. With this generational purchase, we are truly excited about our future, and hope that you will support our efforts moving forward.
Although gallery exhibitions have been put on hold, all of our other programs are still active. This includes:
- Artists-in-Schools program operates in partnership with the Caldwell County Schools and the J.E.Broyhill Civic Center. Theater, dance, music, and more are presented to the children of Caldwell County, providing them with experiences that rival those of children in large cities.
- Caldwell Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM), that teaches music to children in the old-time Appalachian tradition of singing and playing by ear. Instrument choices are guitar, fiddle, and mandolin.
- Foothills Veterans in Art is taught at The HUB Station Arts Center in Hudson, NC and offers U.S. Veterans the opportunity to learn art and guitar completely free of charge.
- Sculpture Celebration is an annual sculpture competition that has been held for over 35 years and attracts people from both in and out of state. Staged at a local walking park, it attracts artists from across the country. In 2023, sculptors came from as far away as NY, PA,and FL to participate.
- Tuckers Outdoor Sculpture Gallery is located in downtown Lenoir and is operated in partnership with the City of Lenoir and Lenoir Tourism Development Association. Works are juried for installation on 12 pedestals in the heart of town and are available for sale with unsold work rotating out after one year.
- Caldwell Arts Council’s 84-piece sculpture collection is one of the largest in the country for a county of our size. CAC owns and maintains the works installed across our county, mostly in public locations that can be seen by the public.
The ripple effect of the Caldwell Arts Council is significant because an art rich community is a healthy community. Your support will ensure that our legacy will continue as Caldwell County’s leader in the arts.
Thank you.
