DOGS FOR VETERANS FOUNDATION
SCOTLAND, ConnecticutDogs for Veterans Foundation exists to rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters and place them, at no cost, with veterans living with PTSD, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and other mental health challenges. These healing partnerships offer a proven, non-pharmaceutical path to reduced isolation, improved daily functioning, and restored purpose—honoring those who have served while giving shelter dogs a second chance at life. Through our partnership with Parish Hill’s PHTOPS program, we also provide hands-on training and meaningful work experience for students with autism and intellectual disabilities. By engaging in animal care and rehabilitation, these young people discover career pathways in animal welfare that build skills, foster independence, and support their own mental health and sense of purpose. Together, we strengthen our community by saving canine lives, supporting veteran healing, and empowering students—creating lasting impact through compassion, service, and the transformative bond between people and animals.
