Who We Are:
Task Force Valor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) service members, veterans, and their families.
Service to Country:
SOF are the most highly trained and deployed force in the US Military. Our Nation calls on them more so than any other force due to the intensive selection and specialized training they receive. They are continuously deployed on high risk missions globally and have done so since their inception.
The Cost
Continuous exposure to high risk situations, frequent and lengthy deployments, chronic trauma/stress, and extreme demands of the lifestyle have all led to significant impact on not only the individual, but the family.
The unique challenges of SOF life are clear:
o 75% of post-9/11 veterans report mental health symptoms, yet only 14% have received treatment.
o SOF operators experience a 40% higher divorce rate than the rest of the military.
o SOF suicide rates are approximately 30% higher than the military average.
These realities highlight the urgent need for safe, restorative spaces where SOF members and families can recover and reconnect.
Who We Serve
SOF members (active, separated, or retired)
SOF members with a spouse
SOF members with teenage children (13+)
SOF members with younger children (ages 8–13)
Family Friendly Adventure

Summer activities include white-water rafting, hiking, hunting, fishing, fly fishing, horseback riding, and ATV/UTVing. Winter activities include downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and Nordic Skiing. There is an additional program in Molokai, Hawaii for hunting, fishing, snorkling and hiking.
Desired Effects
Reduced Mental Health Symptoms: Studies suggest that spending time in nature can promote healthy coping strategies to decrease symptoms of mental illness.
Reduced Stress and Anxiety: Nature exposure can help alleviate anxiety, depression, and hyper-arousal; symptoms common in PTSD, by providing a sense of security and tranquility.
Increased Social Connection: Group outdoor activities can foster social and familial connections and a sense of peer support/community support, which can be beneficial for individuals struggling with mental health.
Physical and Mental Well-being: Engaging in outdoor activities can promote physical well-being and increase energy releasing endorphins that improve mood and reduce stress.
