PETS FOR VETS INC

We enrich the lives of Veterans by creating a Super Bond with custom trained working animals.

Pets for Vets, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was established in 2009 by Clarissa Black. Through her volunteer work with her dog, Bear, at the VA Long Beach, Clarissa saw first-hand the positive impact custom trained working animals had on the Veterans. She created Pets for Vets to bring these benefits to Veterans on a full-time basis.

The Pets for Vets program has received national recognition for its approach and success. We have been contacted by several researchers who are studying the benefits of custom trained working animals on Veterans with PTSD.

From the first location in Long Beach, Pets for Vets has expanded to several additional states nationwide and the District of Columbia.
