FRONTLINE ARTS, A NEW JERSEY NON-PROFIT CORPORATION

Frontline Arts is a socially engaged arts studio and gallery, located in central NJ, with mobile and in-house educational programs that use artmaking as a tool for social awareness and engagement. Our flagship program is Frontline Paper- a papermaking program that teaches Veterans around the country how to make handmade paper from military uniforms. These communities go through a transformative process of Deconstruction, Reclamation, and Communication over several days, learning the arts of handmade papermaking and printmaking to create unique sheets of paper upon which they can share their stories with the public. We launched the Scrubs Paper Project, making paper out of the garments from healthcare workers into postcards, so they can tell stories about their experiences battling COVID-19, as well as the Migration Project, where Veterans, Dreamers, Immigrants and Latin/x communities share their stories as poets, artists, workers, and common people shaped by varied experiences of migration.

We also have a mobile youth and community papermaking and printmaking program that travels the state of NJ, making the arts and community-building through the arts more accessible to all people across the state. This program is able to create paper from any symbolic material a community may want to use.

We also have a second floor art gallery with rotating socially engaging and interactive contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year, fully equipped papermaking and printmaking studios, and seasonal adult education workshops in introductory and advanced print and papermaking methods.
