The Farmworker Project LLC is committed to improving the lives of farmworkers through technology and education.
We have built a Spanish language, anonymous job review and employment platform for migrant and seasonal farmworkers in North America. Think Glassdoor for farmworkers. The goal is to improve the working and living conditions, and secure better benefits, for farmworkers (health insurance, overtime, maternity leave, PTO). In addition, our platform will connect farmworkers with the best farms, and help farms with the best employment practices to mitigate their labor shortages.
The Farmworker Project LLC will support both documented workers, those here legally
on H2A Visas, as well as undocumented immigrants. We will support legislation for a
"blue card" which would give farmworkers a path towards legal status if they are working full-time on farms. Currently, the H2A farmworker guest visa program only provides documentation for 240,000 of an estimated 2 to 3 million farmworkers in the United States The majority of farmworkers are undocumented, and unable to travel back and forth between their home countries, leaving them susceptible to predatory employment practices.
