The Totalitarians

op FRACTURED ATLAS PRODUCTIONS INC

Hi there! First of all, thank you all so much for hearing this request!

Next, my name is Katie Rubin. I have been a working Actor and Director since graduating in 2005 from UC Davis with my MFA in Acting. I teach Acting, Improv and Stand Up Comedy Writing at Stanford University in The Continuing Studies Department and for A.C.T. in their Studio Program under Mark Jackson.

I am now the Artistic Director of Sixth Line Studios, a new Professional Regional Theater Company making work out of The Front Row Theater in San Ramon, Ca.

We are currently awaiting the arrival of our 501c3 form. We have applied with the IRS, all other forms have arrived, but this one is moving slowly. While we wait, there are several grants we'd like to apply for to fund both our current production and the productions to come.

Currently, we are in rehearsals for a production of local playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's "The Totalitarians." This show will run from March 2nd, to the 24th of 2024, and will have 3 shows per week for 4 weeks. We are working under a BAPP agreement with Actor's Equity.

Our Mission is to present challenging, boundary-pushing, thought-provoking, conversation-inducing plays to the San Ramon, Danville and surrounding communities. Those areas have several community theaters producing standard musicals, traditional plays, and classic works, but there is no one producing shows that would be produced at say, The Magic, Capital Stage (in Sacramento), or Marin Theater Company. Our aim is to bring the "city" to San Ramon; to make it possible for that portion of the population to be challenged and awakened without having to drive into San Francisco to do so.

Our thinking, additionally, is that because the San Ramon and Danville areas are likely to be able to create, for us, a stable subscriber base, and that teens in the area's parents will be able to afford to send them to our classes, we will ultimately be able to offer free tickets to members of the community who might not otherwise be able to see live theater at all.

Our personal/artistic aim is to be kind to our artists and to take excellent care of them, while providing excellent, high quality, professional work that inspires, awakens, and activates our audiences. We see theater as a doorway to difficult and potentially life-changing, heart-opening connective conversations between individuals and groups.

We want to stimulate those conversations, support those experiences, and inspire our audiences to understand and relate to one another more deeply.

At this moment, we need another $25,000 for this current production. Being able to apply for a few grants that are due in February would help us tremendously for March. We know it is last minute, so we appreciate you considering us!

Thank you again, for your time and energy. We hope to hear from you as you're able.

Biggest love, brightest light
