Operation Rewire: Healing the Heartbeat of Healthcare is a resiliency retreat for military registered nurses designed to support the rewiring of the brain to assist with a smooth reintegration into society by creating a safe community, normalizing discussions around mental wellness and increasing resiliency to facilitate healing of invisible wounds within our medical community. Operation Rewire creates a safe space to ultimately help decrease the incidence of Veteran suicides. The retreat is held at Patriot Point in Madison MD. During the three-day and two-night retreat, a team of seven professionals (including three registered nurses) support the facilitation of transformative healing activities for 10 military nurses.
The expected outcomes for attendees are as follows: participants will (1) Identify self-management strategies to facilitate mental wellness, (2) foster interpersonal relationships, (3) identify resources needed to continue the mental healing process and lastly (4) develop an individual self-service care plan with their personal mission statement and self-care priorities. A mental wellness champion from our CSV team will follow-up with participants in 30-45 days after the retreat for a wellness update. Participants become members of the CSV Community.
