SWORDS TO PLOWSHARES VETERANS RIGHTS ORGANIZATION

Swords to Plowshares is a community-rooted nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting underserved veterans through comprehensive services including housing, legal assistance, employment, and mental health care. Founded in 1974, Swords to Plowshares operates in the San Francisco Bay Area and has become a national model for veteran services. We envision a future where veterans will have access to the care and services they need to achieve health, housing, wellness, and stability.

To achieve our mission, Swords to Plowshares provides wraparound support to nearly 3,000 veterans annually as they navigate the challenges of post-military life. Our model of care is based on the philosophy that the barriers veterans often encounter - including homelessness and instability - are interrelated and require an integrated network of support. Our services are free of charge, and no VA enrollment is required.

Our direct services support veterans in three key areas:

Health & Wellness
Access to healthcare, counseling, critical needs, and a community of support is critical for veterans trying to turn their life around.

Housing Support
We believe that every veteran deserves a safe and stable place to call home, and we recognize that not every path to housing is the same.

Financial Stability
Securing income through employment or disability income is key to restoring independence and dignity.
