At ActiVets, our mission is to heal the wounds of war by providing transformative outdoor experiences to combat veterans. Our unique approach uses the power of wilderness to help veterans overcome the mental and physical damage that can result from service during America’s military conflicts. Through our river retreats, we empower veterans to reconnect with nature, themselves, and each other to find healing, solace, and renewal in the beauty and challenge of the natural world. We are committed to creating a community of support and understanding for veterans, and to helping them build brighter futures for themselves and their loved ones.
ActiVets, established in 2006 by Vietnam veterans who endured the traumatic impacts of their military service in the 1970s, aims to establish a robust support network for the newer generation of veterans returning from current global conflicts. The organization facilitates reintegration into civilian life, fostering healing and a profound sense of belonging for veterans and their families.
