YCAP serves Yamhill County which covers 718 square miles and is home to approximately 105,000 people. Of these residents, 10% of families, 15% of individuals, and 24% of children under the age of 18 live below the poverty level. YCAP serves many of these low-income residents, such as seniors and those with disabilities who struggle with fixed incomes, as well as individuals and families who are in low-wage positions or seeking employment, survivors of domestic violence, migrant families, homeless families and at-risk youth. We are proud to have served our communities for more than four decades and pledge to continue this service on behalf of our residents for many years to come. YCAP changes lives and strengthens our communities.
YCAP was founded in 1980 as part of a nationwide network of social service agencies designed to help improve the lives of low-income people and strengthen communities. We assist the residents of Yamhill County, diligently focusing on four primary service categories: Client Services and Housing, Energy Services, the regional Food Bank, and Youth Services.
Client Services and Housing assists hundreds of individuals and families annually with transitional shelter, stable housing search, rental assistance, emergency financial support, case management and resource referral, among other services. This includes a specialized homeless veterans program.
On average our Energy Services provides 1,200 clients with emergency utility bill support and weatherizes over 30 homes each year to help improve efficiency and lower energy costs.
Our Food Bank annually collects and distributes an average of 2 million pounds of food to over 35 partner pantries, community meal sites, public housing complexes, the McMinnville Senior Center and Mobile Food Pantry distribution sites throughout the county.
Our Youth Services programs support young people ages 11-21 with a safe place to hang out or stay overnight, longer term housing, counseling, mental health services, life skills training, job placement, youth leadership, and more.
