Youth Peace & Justice Foundation Distributes More Than $6,300 in Direct Emergency Flood Relief; Assistance Continues as Community Support Grows: Aide Extended To Kendall/Guadalupe County - REQUESTS DONATIONS TO CONTINUE EFFORTS
UVALDE, Texas (July 18, 2026) — The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation/Uvalde Foundation For Kids, formed after the 2022 mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas announced Saturday that it has now distributed more than $6,300 in direct emergency assistance to families affected by recent flooding in and around Uvalde, as requests for help continue to increase.
The Foundation is asking the public to consider making a financial contribution so emergency assistance can continue without interruption. Donations directly support emergency lodging, food assistance, transportation, and other immediate needs for verified families.
The foundation has now also extending its aide to Kendall & Guadalupe Counties as well as Bexar & Uvalde Counties. But we need your help!
Since activating its Emergency Relief Fund following the completion of its Memorial Walk for Kerrville Flood Victims, the Foundation has worked around the clock to assist families impacted by flooding along the Leona River and surrounding communities. Assistance continues to be prioritized for verified families with school-age children, with volunteers reviewing applications and coordinating aid as quickly as possible.
As of Saturday morning, Foundation volunteers have provided:
* Temporary lodging assistance to 35 families
* Emergency food assistance to 28 families
* Transportation assistance and local resource referrals to 20 families
* Volunteer delivery of essential supplies, including food, clothing, hygiene products, and other requested items to families unable to obtain them on their own.
Combined, more than $6,300 in direct emergency assistance has been distributed through the Foundation's Emergency Relief Fund.
"Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure families receive help when they need it most," said Daniel Bodhi Chapin, Founder and National Director of the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation. "The majority of our assistance has focused on keeping families in a safe place to stay, making sure they have food, and delivering essential items directly to those who cannot access them.
We are grateful for every donor and volunteer who has stepped forward, but the need continues to grow each day."
The Foundation emphasized that its emergency response model focuses on direct assistance to families. Once a request is verified, the Foundation works to provide assistance as quickly as possible—often within hours, when funding is available—without routing aid through intermediary organizations.
Despite distributing more than $6,300 in emergency relief, requests for assistance continue to arrive, and additional financial support is urgently needed to sustain the response.
