One Horse, One Human, a World of Change
Horses that have experienced trauma through abuse, neglect, or desertion need our help and can offer us invaluable lessons about healing. At Lone Oak, we partner members of our diverse client community with horses who need them. Clients help rescued horses heal from the trauma they have experienced. In turn, horses teach clients to trust, remain present, practice compassion, tend to relationships, accept challenges or flaws, and keep growing. Though we welcome all, we are committed to offering services to marginalized groups that have experienced trauma, including children and veterans. We are determined to make our innovative and promising services available to all who need them, regardless of their ability to pay.
Over the last decade, professionals across disciplines, including neurobiology, psychiatry, psychology, and social work, have confirmed what our ancestors have always known: humans and horses are meant to partner, learn, and survive—together. Horses teach us to be present and require us to be honest about who we are and what we are feeling. Their ways of relating to others in their herd teach us about human relationships. Their sensitivity to body language and things unsaid make them a mirror of sorts, allowing us to see ourselves more clearly. Horses have something to offer all of us.
During a session with us (group/individual/family) you may experience at least two, if not all of the following: psychotherapy, ecotherapy, expressive arts therapy, equine assisted therapy, animal assisted therapy.
