At Peer 180 we provide a safe, supportive environment for individuals who are in recovery or sober-curious and those seeking a community in recovery. We have an all pathways of recovery approach. Which means any pathway; 12 steps, faith based, MAT, harm reduction, S.M.A.R.T., Wellbriety, or no pathway is welcomed. Individuals are encouraged to see many resources within our community.
Peer 180 currently has a connection as a resource in the Mesa County jail with the JBBS team. We are utilized as a referral however are looking to advance as a ‘meet in-person’ resource. In addition, we have a presence in Delta & Rifle Correctional Centers, assisting individuals returning to our community.
Overview of services offered, at no cost to all, including those transitioning from incarceration.
● Who Peer 180 RCO serves: Individuals within Mesa County.
Criminal Justice Coach also reaches into Delta and Montrose counties as well
Anyone experiencing substance use problems and those trying to maintain their recovery; their families, children and supporters.
● Peer Support Program:
-Trained Peer Recovery Coaches provide one-on-one support to individuals with substance use issues & some mental health issues (& referrals).
-Weekly All Recovery support groups. Currently 7 weekly, All Recovery Meetings, Morning Mindfulness, WellBriety and SMART Recovery .
-TRec (Tele-Recovery)- support through virtual options to connect with individuals that do not have a Recovery Coach, reduced their one-on-one time, or have moved but stay connected.
- Peer Internships - Train, supervise Recovery Coach interns striving towards their State Certification.
-High Aquity - Coaching services to high need individuals court ordered into treatment. Supported from court proceedings, into treatment & MAT option recovery. Co-support provided with RMHP navigator
-Criminal justice Coach- Provided one-on-one, MAT referrals, criminal justice navigation, in-reach to Delta & Rifle correctional facilities.
- Community Service Coach – Provide one-on-one primarily to community corrections individuals. Coordinates community service volunteers and Useful Public Service volunteers.
-Resource Broker: each staff/critical volunteer keeps track of local resources and is able to provide a ‘warm handoff’ to individuals – whether someone is being directly coached, a walk-in to the Recovery Community Center, thru technology or our support groups.
-RCA-Recovery Coach Academy training- Train & supervise RC Interns towards obtaining their State CPFS certification.
Personal peer-to-peer connection is highly valued and just handing out a phone number will not do.
Peer Support Program encompasses whole person health support; could be helping into treatment and support after, court or child protection support, finding housing, food assistance, job applications, securing identity paperwork, help get a doctor/dentist/counselor and many times help with rides (bus passes, UberHealth, or staff provides).
● R@W Recovery Program- Peer Support specified for 18-24 year old transitional youth. In addition R@W Recovery practices Contingency Management strategies and a higher effort on pro-social activities, outings and art groups.
-R@W Teen - collaboration with Lighthouse to provide education and support of teenagers in the juvenile diversion program. Peer 180 staff provides bi-weekly services at their location. Oversees a R@W Recovery Pod at Karis and In planning stage, R@W Teen All Recovery support group at Lighthouse.
● Recovery Thru Fitness (RTF) - Provide gym time & support group through partnership with Kutthaus gym two days a week. Summit Valley Treatment, VA treatment and Community Corrections bring clients in addition to general recovery participants.
-Nutrition and Recovery- Trained instructors (Criminal Justice Coach & Community Service Coach ) provide workshops to teach the value of nutrition to heal your body, learn to take care of it, utilize food to reduce triggers (amino acids), become more health conscience.
● Family Support Program:
- Parents in Recovery- bi-weekly education & support group for those with Substance Use Disorder to learn parenting skills.
- Youth Zone - All programs and activities are family & children welcoming
- Child Care- provide at designated events and support meetings
- In-process - SMART Friends & Family Support group (Dec)
● Creating In Recovery (CIR)- Bi-weekly Program utilizing art as an expression of feelings, expressive creations. Monthly Art Journaling, "CIR on the Road" provides a la cart services to other programs and agencies; ie. The Circle Treatment Center, SD 51 Expulsion Program and Veterans
● Activities Program : -Monthly, fun substance free, pro-social activities (game night, dances, holidays, bonfires, sled day, movies ,Rally, camping, ect). Involvement and co-sponsorship of other recovery entities’ events.
● Other:
-Monthly publication of Recovery Community Calendar-highlighting recovery social events in Mesa County.
- Electronic newletter publication.
-Collaborate with Oxford Houses & LatchString Recovery House in Mesa County (7 homes) to support the individuals within, including providing some funds for move in fees for Peer 180 participants
-Host & execute the Mesa County Recovery Rally Day for National Recovery Month (Sept)
-Recovery Coach Academy – Provided for those seeking Colo.Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) certification.
- Training for individuals currently in recovery seeking Recovery Coaching certification.
-Life Skills- Monthly for participants, volunteers, staff (Will writing, taxes, credit, suicide prevention training, self defense, finances, nutrition, etc)
-Active FaceBook (Peer 180 Support Group), 1700 members. This is how many find us and connect, then come to a live meeting/event.
-Community Collaborations –, Opioid Overdose Awareness Day, ShareFest, Rural Peer Coach Conference, Summer Jam. MCORG events, Sober Bowl, Farmers Markets, education presentations.
We actively seek and participate in community education and Recovery Advocacy projects to put a face on recovery
