This program is to address any months of explicit education children have missed due to illness, family moving or lay off during the summer. Keystone Development Center will be providing students with instruction to address the reading standards they missed or upgrade for the new year. The KDC Literacy Summer Program addresses phonics, reading fluency, comprehension strategies, and the writing process. The goal of this program is to promote literacy among children, particularly during the summer months to combat "summer slide" and close learning gaps. Participants are required to read a certain number of books and complete accompanying journals (age-based). Prizes are given out as rewards for completing these journals. At the end of the program, students will receive a reading certificate to memorialize their accomplishments.
