BTG exists to bridge the generational and systemic gaps that keep families from thriving-whether through food insecurity, lack of housing, or limited access to personal and professional development. Through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, and wraparound support services, we empower both youth and families to rise above challenges and pursue lasting transformation.
Our Vision: We envision thriving families and communities where every individual, regardless of background, has the opportunity and tools to succeed.
Core Focus Areas:
• Hunger Relief – Providing food access for families in crisis.
• Housing Support – Offering housing, resources and referrals for individuals facing
homelessness.
• Family Empowerment – Delivering life skills training, curriculum-based education, career
development and support services to promote self-sufficiency.
• Youth Development – Equipping the next generation through career exploration,
mentorship, entrepreneurship, financial literacy & other community based initiatives.
Our Story: Our journey began in 2008 when Dr. Wes through a passion to make a difference in the lives of middle school students, developed and launched a pioneering “From School to Work” program. This was a grassroots initiative focused on preparing middle school students for future success by exposing them to career exploration, job shadowing opportunities, real-world entrepreneurship scenarios, and essential life skills. During the course of that program, a deeper need became evident: many students were showing up hungry, some were navigating homelessness, and their family situations were barriers to success. Moved by compassion, Dr. Wes began using his own resources—financial and business-based—to provide food, household support, and resources. As the need rapidly outgrew what could be done individually, it became clear that a more sustainable, community-centered solution was necessary. Therefore, in 2019 Bridging The Gaps Community & Family Development Centers became an official 501(c)3 organization expanding our mission and deepening our impact.
