Begun in 2016 as a community group focused on justice issues, things got a little out of hand. Since incorporating in 2019, we now contribute the following services to Northwest Arkansas continuum of care of homelessness intervention:
Way Station Essential Services + Productivity: A critical community
service located at 1920 S. 8th St., Rogers. We serve approximately
800 unique households in tens of thousands of daily visits annually.
We provide food, clothing, hygiene services and supplies, laundry, mail
service, job training and search, case management, housing referrals,
etc. Approximately 15% of these households include a veteran.
Make the Difference Fund
Make The Difference has prevented homelessness for more than 250
households since 2021 through small amounts of financial assistance
paired with case management services to keep people in their homes
when they were facing an eviction. Additionally, Make The Difference
funds can help to rapidly rehouse persons for whom economics are
the main barrier to homelessness.
Transitional Housing: Suites at St. Mary’s and Tapestry Home are 2-
year housing programs that give people the opportunity to address
issues contributing to their homelessness. 27 senior citizens
experiencing homelessness, 20% of whom currently are veterans,
redesign their lives and take solid steps to housing stability for good.
Thrifty Lil Bou Thang, boutique thrift store is a source of revenue for
our programs and a job training environment for WayStation guests
and Suites at St. Mary's residents. 102 N. 24th St., Rogers
Trinity Park: Micah 6:8 Initiative is launching a new initiative in 2025 to
provide opportunities for disabled vets and other retired veterans and
other seniors to purchase a WayMaker teeny tiny trailer made through
WayStation construction job training activities. They are tiny mobile
homes (not RVs) with full service plumbing that will be sold at cost
(approximately $12,000) to veterans as first preference, and other
senior citizens to give them a chance at home ownership in their
golden years. Through owner financing on low interest and ample loan
terms, monthly payments can be made affordable even for people
living on as little as $800 a month.
