The Grateful Americans Charity, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide resources that support programs aimed at ending Veteran homelessness and combating the invisible wounds of war.
The charity started in 2016 when a group of like-minded industry leaders, including lenders; property managers; property owners; attorneys; service providers; insurance brokers; real estate brokers; and transportation and energy providers, joined together. Our goals are to raise awareness of issues facing our Veterans, and to provide housing solutions for them. We have learned to respect that home ownership, mortgages, and conventional rental solutions are not for everyone, and often these housing solutions may not always address the special needs of our Veterans.
From 2016 through 2019, the Charity is proud to work with the PTSD Foundation of America and Camp Hope located in Houston, Texas. Camp Hope offers interim free housing for veterans suffering from PTSD. Additionally, Camp Hope provides PTSD recovery programs in which veterans attend group lessons and support sessions with other combat veterans; conduct individual mentoring sessions with certified combat trauma mentors; and participate in off-site small group interaction activities to assist in their personal healing. The veteran's families are involved throughout the counseling and recovery processes.
