We are ardent believers in the value of music education in the overall development of our community in the Flathead Valley. Music enhances all of our lives and specifically bolsters the academic growth and confidence of our children.
North Valley Music School is celebrating 28 years of providing music instruction to all ages and abilities. This has been accomplished in a 100-year-old residence located on Spokane Avenue in Whitefish, MT. Our enrollment has grown to over 300 students per week, and that lovely old building has exceeded its capacity. Located on an ever-increasingly busy street without proper drop-off space creates a safety issue for the students and parents. We now have 8 studios in the school and lease space from the local Presbyterian Church for group classes and private lessons.
The music school was granted a land sublease from Project Whitefish Kids and the City of Whitefish for a new building on 2.3 acres in the Smith Fields sports complex, a more central location for Kalispell and Columbia Falls students. This location will create a safe environment for our school to operate with acoustically designed 15 studios to allow for the increasing demand for lessons. In addition, we will have space for group classes and a recital hall.
The beautiful new school will have easy access for parents to drop off and pick up their children. Our staff of 23 locally based teachers is equally excited to have a state-of-the-art facility where they can deliver their lessons to students from throughout the valley.
NVMS has met the public goal to build the facility and now we are trying to get our endowment to $1.5M to sustain the new school.
