The Hope Project, our mindful arts education outreach program created in 2002, serves children and adults in their schools and facilities, providing music, dance and theater classes. The program includes 10 community partners with over 900 students (ages 2-99), of which 90% are economically disadvantaged.
Jane Weiner, Hope Stone’s Founder and President, began The Hope Project with 40 children. It had been her dream to bring passionate working artists into the classroom as she herself combines a professional dance career with a degree in deaf/elementary education. Through her commitment to arts education, the program has solidified its place as a significant arts education program in Houston. It reaches beyond the traditional classroom to also serve homeless youth, veterans and the elderly.
Hope Stone Dance, our professional modern dance theater company formed in 1997, has established itself as a company that continually presents fresh and innovative work and is recognized for promoting collaboration in Houston’s artistic community. Our work in unconventional spaces (warehouses, vacant office buildings, museums and on the streets of local communities) brings new audiences, families, and those who may not attend a traditional theater.
