CONVOY OF HOPE RESPONDS TO EXTREME WINTER WEATHER IN TEXAS

チャリティ活動名 CONVOY OF HOPE

SPRINGFIELD, MO. - Although the temperature is warmer, electricity is restored, and boil orders are lifted in parts of Texas, many people are still without necessities. Convoy of Hope continues to send relief — water especially — as drinkable water is the greatest need.

Convoy of Hope has either sent or is in the process of sending more than 60 tractor-trailers full of resources, including 2.2 million bottles of water. In addition to water, we’ve added extra cleaning supplies in our shipments to help people whose homes were damaged.

HOUSTON, TEXAS - The situation was dire in Texas, but Convoy of Hope was — and, to date, still is — on the front lines. Much of the state and parts of Oklahoma had no access to clean drinking water because of the harsh winter snap that froze entire water systems and knocked out power to millions.

Convoy of Hope was on the forefront of responding to those in need. With the help of partner churches like Hope City Church in West Houston, hope came just in time.

“It enables us to jump in really fast with our partners,” said Anthony Minor, a community coordinator at Hope City Church.

Pallets of water and other much-needed supplies were handed out to the masses. More than a million bottles of water were given to those who didn’t have access.

Thank you for your generosity and help during this historic winter storm season as we serve survivors in Texas.

HOUSTON, TEXAS - Although the weather in Texas has improved slightly, the dire nature of the situation has not. Many residents are still without power, and many more do not have a reliable source of clean water. According to the Texas Tribune, nearly half the state has been affected by water disruptions.

“Desperate. Never ending,” Anthony Minor of Hope City Church said of the need in the Houston area. “This is something that has literally affected everybody.”

Anthony likened the current situation to Hurricane Harvey, which devastated Texas in 2017.

“Even with Harvey, everyone was not affected to this extent,” he continued. “With this, everybody lost power. Everybody was affected by this who lives in Houston. Our food supply is completely broken. Grocery stores don’t even have water.”

Since the crisis began, Convoy of Hope has sent 10 tractor-trailers full of supplies to the affected areas. Although the tractor-trailers contain necessities like food, blankets, lanterns, and cleaning supplies, much of the space was reserved to address the primary need in Texas: water. To date, more than 360,000 bottles of water have been sent to help those who would not have clean water to drink otherwise.

“In a time of desperation, we want to show [people] that there is hope, that there are people who love them, and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel,” Anthony said as he prepared for a distribution event at his church.

As this crisis continues, we are committed to serving as many people as we can for as long as we can.

SPRINGFIELD, MO. Convoy of Hope is deploying multiple trucks of relief to Texas in response to the subfreezing temperatures sweeping the state. The trucks are full of bottled water and cleaning supplies, which local partners will distribute to those in need.

At least 16 people are reported dead and 4 million are without power in Texas as a result of ongoing frigid temperatures.

Due to the freezing temperatures that are out of the ordinary in Texas, thousands are without water as pipes have frozen or burst. Cuts in power from freezing natural gas pipelines have disrupted the water supply to several areas. The water supply for entire towns is shut off completely after losing power at their water treatment plants. When these areas are restored, a boil order will be in effect for several days before the water from their faucets will be safe to drink.
