House of Hope Programs
House of Hope nests all its services within Project HOPE (Helping Others Progress through Empowerment), ensuring that all people seeking help receive some level of case management. This helps to examine the root causes of their needs and opens a dialogue about further channels of assistance. Each person’s frequency and level of service is determined case-by-case.
Collectively, the services provided through Project HOPE are designed to empower people in need and afford them the greatest opportunity for health, financial stability and life success.
About 21,000 people each month are touched by one or more House of Hope services within Project HOPE:
Food Distribution: Includes dry goods as well as fresh and frozen produce and meat. In 2023, the agency provided people with nearly 1.3 million pounds of food — the equivalent of about 1,083,000 meals. More than a third of this amount feeds hungry children. Half of food distributions go to agency pantries and the other half to 30 nonprofit food bank partners (shelters, soup kitchens, youth programs, smaller pantries). Over 500,000 pounds of the total distribution is fresh produce from the agency's farm or gleaning partners.
Clothes Closet: Includes clothing, small household necessities, furniture and appliances. Each year, House of Hope provides about 150,000 of such items to families and individuals as well as agencies that serve veterans, children, and people who are homeless.
Financial Assistance: Includes help with rent/mortgage, utilities, prescriptions, medical co-pays, and gift cards for gasoline or holiday meals. Special funds at House of Hope include assistance for veterans and single mothers.
Information and Referral: Staff members, expert volunteers and interns at House of Hope connect thousands of people each year to vital resources available throughout the community. This may include helping people with applications for Medicaid, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Florida KidCare and other forms of assistance.
Case Management: Professional social workers offer longer-term assistance and guidance to help people bring greater stability to their lives through planning, budgeting, training and outreach to community partners.
Workforce Development: A dedicated assistant is available to job-seeking clients to help them navigate the process to secure living wage employment in Martin County.
Housing Assistance: A dedicated assistance is available to help clients secure safe, affordable housing options in Martin County. Innovative roommate matching software is used to optimize opportunities.
In addition to direct client services through Project HOPE, all community members have access to House of Hope's three Centers for Enrichment. Centers are located in the heart of low income regions of Stuart, Indiantown and Jensen Beach. Programs are for all ages, and focus on enhancing life-skills of the residents who need it most - including English, computer skills, kindergarten readiness, homework helpers, smoking cessation, healthy cooking, nutrition education and more.
An innovative traveling nutrition education garden has allowed House of Hope's nutrition education program reach over 7,700 individuals in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. These programs raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition and lay a foundation for healthy eating.
The health, wellness, and financial stability is the priority of every agency service and programs offered. There is no cost to participate or receive any service from House of Hope.
