BlazeSports America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 1993 as the legacy organization of the 1996 Paralympic Games held in Atlanta, Georgia. We serve individuals with a spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, amputation, visual impairment and other physical impairments. BlazeSports was founded to provide ongoing programming in adaptive sport, recreation, and physical activity for Georgia’s youth and veterans with a physical disability. These include weekly programs and related competitions, clinics, BlazeSports All-Star Camp and disability awareness events. Because of the great need and lack of adaptive sport opportunities, BlazeSports also provides training and education services in adaptive sport to increase the capacity of local service providers across Georgia and US. BlazeSports America holds the following credentials - Disabled Sports USA Chapter, Paralympic Sport Club - Gold Level, member of the United States Olympic Committee's Multi-Sport Organizational Council, USA Member of Cerebral Palsy International Sport and Recreation Association, two-time winner of the US Olympic Committee's Rings of Gold Award for our youth and veteran programs. BlazeSports is led by a multi and interdisciplinary team representing the fields of therapeutic recreation, exercise science, sport management, sport for development, marketing and communications, evaluation, nutrition and public health.
