Our Solution
Tech For Troops (T4T) provides veterans in need and their families with gifted refurbished computers, teaches the skills to use it, and provides IT workforce training for jobs that are in high demand.
The Process
Initially, the Veterans Affairs (VA), American Legion, VFW or other Veteran Organization sends a veteran in need to T4T. This verifies their veteran status. T4T distributes a laptop or desktop that meets the needs of the veteran and his/her family. Then the veteran or family member attends training at the T4T training facility, learning how to work his computer. From there, he can continue to receive further job skills at T4T through partner organizations that are experts in that particular IT field. Other veterans can gain employment in other job fields through the network created via T4T’s extensive partnerships.
Recycling and Refurbishing
T4T also saves the environment from toxins that are being put into landfills constantly as computers and other technology are discarded. Data on the donated computers is professionally sanitized with a method used by the DoD to securely wipe all data. T4T has a large facility that recycles laptops and other equipment. The best of these donations are refurbished and distributed to veterans. The rest are recycled or sold, generating proceeds that go directly back into the mission.
Using donated and refurbished computers, our Aiming For Zero Suicide Program supports suicidal Veterans and their families - suicide doesn't just effect the veteran but those around him/her.
Most Veterans, after leaving the service, are searching for a “Eudemonic Purpose” – not realizing that’s what they are missing from their previous military service. A “Eudemonic Lifestyle” is found when the subject leads a virtuous life and has negative feelings assuaged because their endeavors are fulfilling not just financially and practically – but emotionally and spiritually.
T4T Game Corps has combined all of these factors in our “Aiming For Zero” campaign.
Game Corps is a sponsored affiliate on Twitch.tv/tech4troops – meaning any subscriptions and donations are routed directly back into our streaming program and Veteran Outreach, so that our members can step up and be that voice that chimes in, “Hey – what about you? How are YOU today?”
