MEMORIAL DAY FLOWERS FOUNDATION

Memorial Day Flowers was founded in 2011 by patriots who wanted to honor those who served our nation. That first year, volunteers placed 10,000 roses at Arlington National Cemetery. That idea of honoring “the original meaning of Memorial Day” caught hold and more people wanted to support their efforts, volunteer, and expand to other locations. In 2018, over 1,300 volunteers placed over 200,000 flowers at Arlington National Cemetery and another 200,000 flowers at forty national cemeteries.

The organization has two primary goals. The first is to help bring back the meaning of Memorial day. Our country has forgotten the historic roots of Memorial
Day. Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day was established after the Civil War as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of those lost to war with flowers. Participating
in the Foundation’s floral tributes over Memorial Day weekend helps remind Americans about the true meaning of Memorial Day.

We also have a goal to leave no hero’s grave undecorated on Memorial Day. There are 136 national veterans’ cemeteries with over 3.7 million gravesites. Our goal is to honor
each hero, leaving no grave undecorated.
