Save A Warrior

Save A Warrior® (SAW) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the suicide epidemic among Veterans and Ohio first responders by addressing the root causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress (C-PTS) and suicidal ideation. Founded in 2012, SAW has become a pioneering leader in Veteran-centered suicide prevention through its innovative, integrative approach to mental health and healing.

At the heart of SAW’s work is a 72-hour intensive intervention designed to provide Veterans and first responders with a powerful and transformative experience. This experience includes precision storytelling, deep listening, cognitive processing therapy, and Warrior Meditation™. The intervention focuses on helping participants confront and process their traumatic experiences, make peace with their past, and begin their journey of healing.

SAW’s impact doesn’t end with the 72-hour experience. Each participant is supported by a comprehensive 500-Day Plan, which provides long-term, structured care that promotes emotional sobriety, mental clarity, and stronger relationships. SAW’s Community of Practice offers lifetime support, ensuring that participants continue to receive guidance and encouragement as they reintegrate into civilian life, build resilience, and foster healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Additionally, SAW offers a sponsorship program that ensures participants achieve sobriety before starting the program, pairing them with sober alumni sponsors. This program supports overcoming addiction and preparing participants to engage fully in their healing journey.

Save A Warrior operates from its National Center of Excellence for Complex Post-Traumatic Stress, a 350-acre facility in Hillsboro, Ohio, where up to 1,000 Veterans and first responders can receive support annually. Through its programs, SAW has achieved a remarkable 99.5% success rate, providing hope, healing, and recovery to individuals suffering from the profound effects of trauma.

By addressing the limitations of traditional medical models and focusing on the human spirit, SAW fosters profound, lasting change in those it serves. The organization is a beacon of hope, actively preventing high-risk suicides, supporting sobriety, and empowering Veterans and Ohio first responders to overcome their trauma and lead lives of sober, servant leadership.
