Combatting Food Insecurity: Nourishing MBIC's Community and Their Networks

Introduction: At the Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse (MBIC), we have witnessed an escalating need for food support among our members and their networks, including families and care teams. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this situation, making food insecurity a critical issue. Our project aims to provide consistent, nutritious meals to those who rely on us, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.

Objective: Our goal is to secure ongoing funding to provide regular meals to our members, as well as to send food home to support their families and caregivers. This initiative is crucial as we've found that, for many, the meals provided at MBIC are the only reliable source of nutrition they receive.

Scope of Work:
1. Meal Provision at MBIC: Supplying daily nutritious meals for members attending our programs.
2. Food Packages for Home: Preparing food packages that members can take home, providing weekend sustenance for themselves and their families.
3. Partnerships for Food Donation: Establishing connections with local restaurants and grocery stores for food donations.
4. Infrastructure Support: Enhancing our kitchen facilities and storage to accommodate increased meal production and food storage.

Impact: This initiative directly addresses the urgent need for food among our members and their extended networks. By providing regular meals, we not only alleviate hunger but also support the overall well-being and health of our community, including children and working caregivers.

Budget and Funding Request: We are seeking a funding amount of $30,000, which can be contributed as a one-time donation or ongoing monthly support. This funding will cover the costs of meal ingredients, kitchen operations, and food package preparations for our members and their families.
